Just What He Wanted by HelenKay Dimon – Review & Recommended Read

justwhathewantedJust What He Wanted by HelenKay Dimon is a sweet, sexy read. Travis Yardley is a man who overcome a crappy childhood to be a strong man who deserves love and happiness. Andie Patterson struggles with how she sees her self. She struggles to deal with her weight and how others have made her feel in the past. She has to learn to deal with this image to full embrace a relationship with Travis. Add in Andie dealing with Travis being younger than her and Travis past playing a role and you get a good read.

I wish the book had been longer. Their relationship happened quickly. I would have liked more time with them. Overall it is an enjoyable read. I look forward to reading the first three books in the Holloway series.

4 Stars = A Good Read

Wish Me Tomorrow by Karen Rock Review & Recommended Read

Wish Me Tomorrow by Karen RockWish Me Tomorrow by Karen Rock is a heartwarming story that made me cry and smile. The topic of cancer will pull at your heartstrings just as much as the characters themselves. Eli and Christies captivated me with their journeys to find happiness in each other. Eli’s two kids added to the emotional journey.

The only downside for me was seeing the book end. I wanted to read more about these compelling characters.

I recommend this book to any reader looking for a sweet romance that will warm your heart. I’ll definitely read more books from Ms. Rock in the future.

4 stars = A Good Read

Note: I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Christie Bates worked hard to overcome the pain of her brother’s death as a teen, a path that led to her work as a grief counselor. When she meets cancer survivor Eli Roberts, she is touched by his obvious devotion to his children, all the more so after learning his wife left him during his treatments.

Yet no matter how drawn she is to Eli, Christie knows better than to risk her heart to the kind of loss that brought her to her knees once before. Except that, during the course of their friendship, Eli’s kids have already found a  place in her heart. And Eli’s strength of spirit has taught her to live – and  love- again. Soon Christie begins to see that love and family are worth any risk- even when forever isn’t guaranteed.

Fearless by Tawny Weber – Recommended Read

Fearless

Fearless by Tawny Weber is a Cosmo Red Hot Read by Harlequin. It definitely lives up to that description. This book has great friendships, hot sex, and a dreamy guy that’s worth more than one fantasy night.

I love the interaction between Gia and her girlfriends. It’s great to see how they help Gia get her fantasy night with her crush, Luke.

The chemistry between Gia and Luke heats up the pages. The obstacles they face to find their HEA kept me turning the pages.

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick, hot read. I’m looking forward to the rest of the books in this series.

5 Stars = A great read (I would re-read this one.)

A Recommended Read – All Out of Love by Lori Wilde Review

All Out of Love is book 2 in the Cupid Texas series from Lori Wilde. This book has  a witty, sassy heroine and a sexy, charming quarterback hero who is a cowboy at heart all wrapped up in one enjoyable read.

Lace has come a long way from the fourteen year old girl with a stutter and was humiliated with the letter she wrote to Cupid about her crush landing on the front page of the school paper. She’s an independent, sassy woman who is comfortable with her size fourteen body. Then life is turned upside down when her crush comes home after twelve years.

Pierce is down on his luck. He’s come home to heal and help out his sick dad. He’s never had  a problem getting exactly what he wants until he wants Lace. He loves a challenge. He sets out to win Lace over.

The witty banter between Lace and Pierce had me laughing out loud. In the next moment, I was pulled into the emotions and feeling their pain, their love, their heartache. I love when a book does that.

An enjoyable read that I recommend to any reader looking for a great contemporary romance that has you turning the pages to see how Pierce will won Lace’s heart.

I’m looking forward to reading book one, Love at First Sight.

4 Stars = A Great Read

Cupid Texas Series, Book 2

Football star Pierce Hollister has fame, fortune, and beautiful women who’ll do anything for him…whether he asks them to or not. But when it all comes crashing down, Pierce finds himself back home, running the ranch in Cupid, Texas, wondering how it all went wrong.

But one thing is right: Lace Bettingfield. The former plain-Jane has turned into luscious knock-out—trouble is, she won’t even give him the time of day no matter how many passes he makes.

Being in love with your older brother’s best friend is awkward enough, and Pierce was the cause of Lace’s most embarrassing high school moment ever when her secret letter to him declaring her love landed right on the front page of the school newspaper! Pierce is still as stubborn, sexy, and arrogant as ever…but Lace is about to see that things aren’t always as they seem…especially when it comes to love.

ARC Review If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones (Recommended Read)

If I Were You is simply amazing! This book is a definite re-read for me. It left me wanting more of Sara and Chris and the intrigue around what happened to Rebecca (the journal’s writer).
The book is written in first person from Sara’s point of view. There were times I longed for Chris’ point of view. I wanted to know what was going on inside his head because he is such a compelling character. I wanted to know his deep dark secrets. However, the book wouldn’t work if we knew what Chris thought. To know the answers would take away from the intrigue and mystery of the book.
Sara is left with a storage unit and erotic journals to deal with when her friend runs off to elope. Sara finds she can’t sell off the belongings in the storage unit. The more she reads the journals, the more determined she becomes to find the owner, Rebecca, to return her possessions and figure out what happened to her. This desire leads to Sara taking Rebecca’s place at the art gallery, which starts Sara on a path to becoming what she wanted to be.
Sara is easy to relate to. She has a habit of rambling in uncomfortable silence or awkward moments. She’s someone you can see as having for a friend. She is torn between her desire to take the opportunity to change her life by working in the art gallery and finding Rebecca. Her relationship with Chris kept me turning the pages.

Chris is a mystery. He’s rich and famous but doesn’t act it. He prefers people to not know he is the famous Chris Merit. Chris wants to protect and care for Sara. His feelings for her make him act in ways that break the rules he has set out. He has a dark secret that he knows will make Sara run away. At the end of the book, we get a glimpse of his dark secret.
Sara’s new boss, Mark, is dominating. Mark and Chris seemed to have been friends once, but something happened between them. Adding another mystery to try and unravel.
The ending is a cliffhanger. I’m dying to know what happens. The second book, Being Me, is on my anticipated books list. I can’t wait for its release.
The romance between Sara and Chris made the romantic in my happy while the mystery behind Rebecca’s disappearance made the suspense lover in my happy. It’s a perfect blend of the two.
I recommend this book to any reader who is looking for an erotic romance with mystery, intrigue, and a hot alpha male who likes to take charge.
5 Stars = A Must Read (I will be reading this one again.)

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY MEETS BASIC INSTINCTS
Chris is dark, and so are his desires, but I cannot turn away.
He is rich and famous, and dark in ways I shouldn’t find intriguing, but I do. I so do.
I don’t understand why his dark side appeals to me, but the attraction between us is rich with velvety promises of satisfaction. Chris is dark, and so are his desires, but I cannot turn away.
He is damaged beneath his confident good looks and need for control, and in some way, I feel he needs me. I need him.
How it began….
One day I was a high school teacher on summer break, leading a relatively uneventful but happy life. Or so I told myself. Later, I’d question that, as I would question pretty much everything I knew about me, my relationships, and my desires. It all began when my neighbor thrust a key to a storage unit at me. She’d bought it to make extra money after watching some storage auction show. Now she was on her way to the airport to elope with a man she barely knew, and she needed me to clear out the unit before the lease expires.
Soon, I was standing inside a small room that held the intimate details of another woman’s life, feeling uncomfortable, as if I was invading her privacy. Why had she let these items so neatly packed, possessions that she clearly cared about deeply, be lost at an auction? Driven to find out by some unnamed force, I began to dig, to discover this woman’s life, and yes, read her journals—-dark, erotic journals that I had no business reading. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. I read on obsessively, living out fantasies through her words that I’d never dare experience on my own, compelled by the three men in her life, none of whom had names. I read onward until the last terrifying dark entry left me certain that something had happened to this woman. I had to find her and be sure she was okay.

Before long, I was taking her job for the summer at the art gallery, living her life, and she was nowhere to be found. I was becoming someone I didn’t know. I was becoming her…
The dark, passion it becomes…
Now, I am working at a prestigious gallery, where I have always dreamed of being, and I’ve been delivered to the doorstep of several men, all of which I envision as one I’ve read about in the journal. But there is one man that will call to me, that will awaken me in ways I never believed possible. That man is the ruggedly sexy artist, Chris Merit, who wants to paint me. I need him.
All I know for certain is that he knows me like I don’t even know me, and he says I know him. Still, I keep asking myself — do I know him? Did he know her, the journal writer, and where is she? And why doesn’t it seem to matter anymore? There is just him and me, and the burn for more.

Review Blade Song by J.C. Daniels – A Recommended Read

Blade Song is my first reading venture into Urban Fantasy and I loved it! I couldn’t get enough. As soon as I finished the book, I wanted the next one in the series. Unfortunately, Night Blade isn’t out yet.
Blade Song is written in first person from Kit’s point of view. Kit is a kickass heroine who is still discovering what the magic within her can do. She has issues that she’s working through while doing a job for the local alpha shapeshifters. A job she really doesn’t want to do but has to or she’s dead. I loved Kit because I felt like I could relate to her even though she lives in a world with magic and shapeshifters.
Kit calls Damion an asshole throughout the book. I whole heartily agreed with her in the beginning. Gradually, Damion changed and won me over. Not an easy thing to do without the benefit of his point of view. By the end, I loved him.
While Blade Song isn’t a romance, the romantic thread between Kit and Damon was enough for me (a person who rarely reads a fiction book that isn’t a romance). I’m curious to see where the relationship between Kit and Damon will head in future books.
I recommend this book to any reader especially romance reader who wants to venture into Urban Fantasy. A worthwhile read that will leave you wanting more.
5 Stars – A Must Read (a book I will definitely read again)

Kit Colbana—half breed, assassin, thief, jack of all trades—has a new job: track down the missing ward of one of the local alpha shapeshifters. It should be a piece of cake.
So why is she so nervous? It probably has something to do with the insanity that happens when you deal with shifters—especially sexy ones who come bearing promises of easy jobs and easier money.
Or maybe it’s all the other missing kids that Kit discovers while working the case, or the way her gut keeps screaming she’s gotten in over her head. Or maybe it’s because if she fails—she’s dead.
If she can stay just one step ahead, she should be okay. Maybe she’ll even live long to collect her fee…
